Okay, I have to say it… Miches, Dominican Republic might be one of the best-kept secrets in the Caribbean. 👀 I recently escaped to Secrets Playa Esmeralda, and it was the perfect mix of gorgeous beaches, amazing food, tropical views, and total relaxation. Think turquoise water, palm trees, pool days, and absolutely zero complaints.
I’m sharing all the details from my stay, what I loved, what surprised me, and whether I think Secrets Playa Esmeralda is worth the trip. So grab a piña colada and let’s get into it! 🍹

Okay, I’m just going to say it: Secrets Playa Esmeralda was AMAZING!! If you’re looking for a gorgeous adults-only all-inclusive where you can fully switch into vacation mode, this is your sign to book the trip. But wait, they also have the Dreams Playa Esmeralda right next door that’s family friendly if that’s more your vibe 😉
As you’ve seen in my FULL video recap, I recently stayed at Secrets Playa Esmeralda in Miches, Dominican Republic, and it was the perfect mix of luxury, relaxation, amazing food, beautiful pools and beaches, and FUN! The resort is tucked away in Miches, which is about an hour and a half drive from the Punta Cana airport, and has clear ocean water (no sargassum seaweed), and feels very undiscovered (it’s NOT touristy which I personally loved). It has that dreamy, secluded Caribbean feel that’s just the perfect tropical getaway!
The property is BEAUTIFUL and brand new, it actually just opened last year!! Think palm trees, gorgeous pools, tropical views, a stunning beach, and plenty of places to grab a drink and hang out. 🌴🍹 We also had Preferred Club access (10/10 recommend), which gave us access to a private pool, an upgraded bar, and a private lounge area. I personally thought it was well worth it and definitely added to the experience!
If you’re a foodie, you’re going to LOVE the dining options on property. There are up to 10 restaurants serving everything from Italian and French to Mediterranean and Dominican cuisine, plus casual poolside options and coffee and snack spots. Our favorites were the brunch buffet (bring on the omelettes and fresh fruit), the fresh fish sandwich at the beach restaurant, and the hibachi dinner, which was basically dinner + a show all in one!
There’s also plenty to do throughout the day, with multiple pools, tons of restaurants and bars, beach activities like snorkeling, nighttime entertainment like karaoke, fire dancers, and live music, plus a beautiful stretch of beach that you can walk for miles. You can be as chill or as adventurous as you want, and there are some fun excursions available if that’s more your vibe!

Overall: The resort is beautiful, the beach is amazing, the food is delicious, there are tons of things to do, and the entire experience was gorgeous and so relaxing. Definitely a 10/10 must visit!!!
