What Apple Watch do you have?
- I have this Series 4 Apple Watch that’s 44mm, aluminum, rose gold with a white band + data/GPS
This is my exact Apple Watch that I got as a Christmas gift this year! I haven’t stopped wearing it since I took it out of the box and LOVE it! It’s so convenient, helps me navigate my day to day, and is so beneficial to staying healthy and fit! Not to mention, it keeps me on track with my day to day obligations and staying connected with people, my music, etc. Overall I highly recommend it to anyone that has been considering getting one! I previously had the FitBit and loved that, but WOW didn’t realize what I was missing out on. The new Series 4 Apple Watch is truly on a whole other level and is absolutely incredib
The main thing I use my watch for is fitness. There is a built in fitness tracker on the watch that I find super accurate and motivating! It can track everything from my outdoor beach walks, to indoor stairmaster, spin classes, hot yoga, you name it. I also love that I can see + respond to texts, make phone calls, use my GPS app, check my calendar, play my Spotify playlists at the gym, track my sleep, use my credit card at the grocery store from my watch (say what!), and so much more!
Basically…. I can leave the house with just my watch on and I’ll survive, haha! 😉 Let’s get right to the questions YOU girls asked about the watch…
Did it improve your day to day? In what was has it made your everyday life easier?
- I don’t necessarily know if I would say it improved my day to day, just because I’m already such an active person. But my new watch definitely gave me more motivation, encouraged me to move even more, and has been beneficial to my day to day life because of how I utilize it.
Do you find yourself checking your phone more or less?
- Checking my phone less! I purchased the cellular data on my watch ($10/month) and it’s made life easier. I don’t have to take my phone with me to the grocery store because I can make calls, send out texts, pull up my calendar, and Apple Pay is all setup on my watch!
Can you control Spotify through your watch while you’re wearing headphones at the gym?
- Yes! You can utilize Spotify, iTunes, podcasts, etc, all through your watch. This means, you don’t need to haul your phone around the gym and you can control your music from your watch which will be playing via your AirPods.
Do you wear it to sleep and what app do you use to track your sleep?
- Sometimes, but it doesn’t bug me if I do choose to sleep with it! I usually charge it at night so it’s ready to go to track my activity the next day. The best sleep app is:
Where is the ECG feature?Â
- This is essentially to track your heart rate (highs and lows), check for any irregular heartbeats, and there’s even fall detection.
- To set it up: first set up the “heart” app on your iPhone, then open the white with red heartbeat app on your watch. It will walk you through the next few steps.
What’s the difference between “active calories” and “total calories” in a workout?
- During your workouts and activities (using the fitness app already on the watch), you can track all of your calories, heart rate, etc.
- Total calories are the calories your body burns just to live like breathing, moving, etc in everyday life. Active calories are the calories burned because of the added fitness activity.
What are your favorite under $25 watch bands?
Click to shop some of my favorite watch bands below (most are under $25). I purchased my current white one at the apple store but this leather wrap watch band might be my next purchase:
Favorite apps you use:
- Fitness Tracker: built into the watch

- Spotify
- Sleep Tracker: autosleep

Can we share activity?
- I need to figure out how to do this, but I’d LOVE to share activity! I’ve heard this is something you can use to track your friends fitness activity. I’ll look into it 😉
How long does the battery last/how frequently do you charge it?
- My battery lasts about 2 days, but I typically charge it once a day! Sometimes at night, sometimes in the morning for a little bit.
What is your favorite watch face settings to use?
- My favorite watch face to use is the one above (if you’re not familiar, you get to choose what watch face you want). I find the one I’m using to be the most beneficial.
Is it worth the $$?
- 10000%. I’m so happy with it and can’t imagine not having one now!
Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions about the Apple Watch and I’m happy to answer them! I’ll be sure to share more on Instagram stories as I learn more about the watch (so stay tuned). Do you have an Apple Watch?! Hi- above I noticed you mentioned you would like to learn how to share activity. I have listed the steps below.
To share your activity with another user you to the following:
-On your phone go to your Apple Watch Activity App
-At the bottom, click on “sharing”
-In the top right corner you will see a “profile” icon & a “+” icon
-The “+” icon allows you to add people to share your activity with. It will offer you suggestions (if you have linked your phone contacts) or you can search for the person you want to add.
-The “profile” icon allows you to see who you are sharing your activity with & also contains a “+” button for you to add other people from that screen.
I hope this helps!

Sheila says
Thanks for the post!!
How do you display the total calories burned, active calories and heart beat on the home screen of the watch?
Torey Beerman says
Sheila, great question! There is a little neon green “walking man” app that comes on the Apple Watch upon purchase. If you tap that, select your workout, it’ll begin showing the calories burned, etc. Hope that helps 🙂
Lola says
How do you use the Spotify app without your phone nearby? I have the cellular data on my watch but doesn’t work.
Torey Beerman says
Lola, your iPhone will need to be connected to wifi wherever it’s at so that you can access your cellular data while you’re out and about! You can contact apple if you have questions and they can help you out too 🙂
